Vision Design is the culmination of Melissa's unique journey, shaped by over 15 years of experience in architecture and design. Her story began far from the world of building design, with an honours degree in international politics from Canada. However, it was during maternity leave, sitting at home watching renovation shows, that Melissa discovered her true passion for home design.
From the first sketch to the final details, our approach centres on collaboration and thoughtful design. Every home we create is crafted to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle while celebrating the natural beauty of the region.
The Process
Step 1:
Free Discovery Call & Proposal
This is the first step in bringing your dream home to life. In our 30-minute consultation, we’ll discuss where you are in the process. Do you already have land, or are you still looking? Are you considering builders or need recommendations? This is your chance to share your ideas and ask questions, while we get to know you and your family. By the end of the call, we’ll have a clear understanding of your needs and the services you’re seeking, setting the foundation for a personalised approach moving forward.
After our Discovery Call, we’ll put together a detailed proposal for you. This will outline exactly what you can expect from us, including a clear breakdown of costs for the house design and our services, payment stages, and a preliminary timeline. Our aim is to ensure you have a transparent view of the project, with no surprises along the way. This proposal helps you make an informed decision, knowing exactly what’s ahead.
Step 2:
Lifestyle Insight and Design Concept
Now comes the fun part—design! Together, we’ll start building the vision for your new home. This step involves creating the foundation of the design by exploring different concepts, themes, and styles that resonate with you, whether it’s modern, Hamptons, or something entirely unique. Through a collaborative process, we’ll refine the design to reflect both your vision and practical needs. Your feedback is crucial at this stage, as we aim to perfect every detail before moving forward.
Once the design concept is finalised, we move into the drafting stage. Here, we’ll develop detailed 3D renders to bring the design to life, helping you visualise the final result. This is your chance to see how everything will come together, with plenty of opportunities to discuss and adjust details. We’ll work closely with you to ensure the design is exactly what you envisioned, making any necessary revisions along the way.
Step 3:
Drafting Drawings and Sourcing Trusted Builders
With the design finalised and ready to go, the next step is to bring it to life with the right builder. We’ll connect you with trusted, reputable builders who align with your project’s needs. We’ve built strong relationships with local builders and will help you find the perfect one to bring your design vision to reality. From here on out, we’ll support you every step of the way, ensuring the build process runs smoothly and the final product is exactly as you envisioned.

We felt immediately calm in our first consultations with Melissa. She is not only extremely skilled at what she does with designing homes but she has high levels of interpersonal skills as well. Melissa took the time to explain what building on a sloping block meant, about the building industry in general, and the first time we heard the phrase: "work with the land". Melissa is highly knowledgable, really knows her stuff about what works best, is non-judgemental so her clients can have an opinion (this is hard to find out there!). She is extremely patient but at the same time will tell you what she thinks so you have space to reflect and think about about it and then come back to her to discuss.
